Bila tent is tucked into the edge of a hill which overlooks expansive views of the southern end of the Great Dividing range. You can lie in your luxurious Double bed looking through the tent opening and soak up the rolling blue eucalypt hills in your extraordinary view. The canvas Bell tent has a 4m diameter . You will be provided with firewood to use in the firepit to do your cooking on. There is an adjustable steel cooking plate attached to the firepit which makes cooking easy. There is also a small gas ring which it is possible to boil a kettle on without having to light the fire. All crockery and cutlery is provided. There is solar lighting at the tent. There are two solar light in the camp kitchen area and two in the tent itself.
There is a comfortable gazebo like camp kitchen which we have developed for tourists to retreat to in case of bad weather. There is a living area with a fireplace and a dining area. These seperate areas allow for different groups of tourists to enjoy the camp kitchen at the same time. The camp kitchen offers another possibility for group gatherings with it’s generous deck, bar and outdoor sitting area. There is a cast iron BBQ on the deck for cooking if the camp fires become too wet.
There are two showers. Both a glass fronted and are perched on the very edge of the hill so you get the feeling that there is very little between you and the mountains! It is truly a spectacular experience. There is a solar heater on top of the showers which allows for hot showers. We do ask however that you are careful to restrict your usage for the shower to 2 -3 minute showers.
There is a toilet block at the back of Tanjenong camp. The two toilets are composting toilets. Be careful to read the instructions when using the toilet. They operate very like normal toilets but some instructions are necessary.
You will be able to connect with one of the favourite Tanjenong walks, the Abercrombie River walk. This walk takes you through a diverse and pristine Eucalypt landscape to the Abercrombie river. The river walk offers a possibility of spotting a diverse range of wild animals, kangaroos, platypus, echidna, trout, wombat, goannas, goats and deer . The walk itself is roughly an hour and half to two hours long. It is steep in parts so it is important to wear good walking shoes.
